The RS170-eval-board from Tekgear uses a similar IC, the MCVVQ110 which runs off a single supply (but is no longer in production?).

  • Justin has a layout as shown below:
  • 2 PCBs were constructed based on this design. The first was a little flaky (just bad soldering) and encountered overheating problems which eventually damaged the IC. The second was constructed somewhat more robustly and works perfectly.

Motorola

The Motorola MCVVQ111 is a driver-chip for this display, gerenating ther timing and voltages our of a Composite-video-signal (RS170) and 2 power-supplies (2.5-5.5V and 11V). The RS170-eval-board from Tekgear uses it.

Kopin ASIC

Kopin sells an ASIC, that can drive the display. The Mototola-part is much better.
