Why a wearable computer?
- Why not?
- Because remembering peoples names is hard for some people.
- How much wasted time is there during the day? Waiting in line for stuff, walking to and from lectures, while you're waiting for the compilation to finsh etc.
- Taking notes in a computer readable format will assist in searching them later!
- Carrying around a couple of kilos of hardware is perferable to carrying around a couple of kilos of dead trees.
- Personal safety! In the event of an emergency the wearable can call for help and dump current pictures as they happen to a remote resource.
Current Projects
- Mapview - a program to display maps and GIS data, with waypoints and eventually route planning.
- Wearable video recorder - Designed to take snapshots of the current scene every half second and if the user then hits record the previous minute or more of low quality video is saved to disk at the same time as fullrate video from that point on. Utilising the standard video4linux drivers.
