You're in Wearforge -> Wearfore -> SystemPassport

I think NOT! * I'd rather not have my wearable spying on me thanks. Turn that "shall" into an optional "may" or include "The system shall allow the SystemPassport capability to be turned off and/or removed" -- JonKnight? - 01 May 2002
* I agree with Jon, sorry this would IMMEDIATELY turn me off. In my opinion, optional GPS is bad enough when it comes to potentially being "tracked". -- RickJones? - 01 May 2002
Additional debate goes here:-- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
I am hoping the STP below gives some perspective and realigns the perceived scope so the notion is more acceptable but you never know ;-) -- TimMiner - 04 May 2002

Situation
Recent events have focused the world on terrorist events and activities in ways that will have lasting impact on the future of wearable computers. Part of our system specification and design process needs to address the prospect (and the reality) that wearcomp users will recieve "extra attention" from airport security services as well as customs and law enforcement agencies. If we do not do this, the market for wearcomps will be negatively impacted by headlines about users being strip searched as terrorist suspects along with being subjected to missed flights and travel connections becuse of the need for extended searches.-- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
Target
The right to security (from terrorist attack) is clear. Wearcomp designers and users need to accept this and provide ways to mitigate the needs of security and law enforcement while maximizing the utility of the wearable computer system.-- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
Proposal
I propose the SystemPassport features and capabilities be designed to meet this need. Note that this is not intended to provide access to the user's files or personal information. They should in general, do the following:
a. Provide access to the user's electronic passport records so customs can read, modify, record and write them.
b. Provide access to the wearable computer's configuration files so security personnal can verify what should and should not be part of the wearcomp (example 1: That part is supposed to be the telecom element but the SystemPassport indicates that was removed 11 days ago. example 2: The SystemPassport indicates this system is configured with a single 200 gram battery pack and we see what appears to be a set of three 900 gram battery packs.)
c. Provide access to a database that can only be read, modified and written by a certified contract or government agency that can confirm the proper configuration of the wearcomp and its suitability for certain activities such as air travel.-- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
TM1 The system shall provide access to the user's electronic PassportRecords? so customs can read, modify, record and write them. Note: This "local copy" on the wearcomp allows the user to operate away from major airports and large customs facilities.-- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
TM2 The system shall privide access to to the users electronic ConfigurationRecords?.-- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
TM3 The system shall privide access to to the users electronic CertificationSuitabilityRecords?.-- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
TM4 These SystemPassport capabilities shall be encrypted or otherwise protected to deter tampering by wearcomp users or others. -- TimMiner - 04 May 2002
