Nickel Cadmium is among the oldest of small cell rechargeable batteries.

Pros:

• Very rapid charge capability ( as much as 3 x the capacity of the cell)
• More obvious drop off in charge when battery is drained compared to NiMH

Cons:

• Heavy metal, Cadmium, is environmentally unfriendly.
• Low battery capacity for size compared to NiMH and LiIon
• Memory Effects (cell must be fully drained(1V/cell) and fully recharged for full capacity)
