TODO: add comparison of available regulators

using regulators

FreemanPascal? about multiple batteries:

My power board has two sources for input voltage, battery
in and 12vDC in from an wall wart. I have Schocky
diodes on each source for reverse protection when running
with both sources hooked in. This has worked very well
so far. This configuration would also do what you want.

are there specs on Schotky diodes? Do I need to look for a specific type?
Digikey 95SQ015-ND Schottky diode, 15V 9A
My only caveat using this diode is to take care that you don't exceed the rated 15V. Once you do the diodes start to conduct in the reverse direction. Unfortunently, I could not find any other Schottky diodes that had higher ratings and could be obtained in a standard axial package.
